To test the new RegCure 2008 Registry Cleaner, we decided to run a series of tests on it to gauge it’s effectiveness in fixing registry errors and improving computer performance.

Our test computer was a Dell Optiplex AMD Athlon™ 64 system that had been running Windows XP for several months and had never had the registry scanned or cleaned before.

RegCure succeeded in scanning and identifying errors in several registry categories, including: Uninstall Entries, Empty Registry Keys, COM/ActiveX Entries, Shared DLL files, Fonts, Help Files Application Paths, File/Path References, Windows Startup Entries, Program Shortcuts and File Associations.

The complete registry scan by RegCure took just under 3 minutes, and identified a total of 767 errors. The total increase in speed and performance was an impressive 17%.

The removal process of the detected errors was very easy, and allowed us to manually select only the items we wanted to be removed. RegCure also has an Ignore List that you can add items to that will not be detected on future scans.

Another useful feature of RegCure is the scheduling function. This allows you to set up a schedule for automatic scanning of the registry on a daily, weekly or monthly basis. RegCure allows you to schedule multiple scans based on your desired settings and needs. This was a particularly beneficial feature in our review process of RegCure.
